Kherson resident Iryna Horobtsova sentenced under occupation
The occupation court sentenced Irina Horobtsova to 10.5 years in prison on charges of spying for Ukraine, according to one of the Russian propaganda Telegram channels, Most reported.
Russians claim that during 2022-2023, Horobtsova collected and passed on to Ukrainian intelligence information about locations, times and routes of movement of Russian military personnel in the Kherson region.
According to them, the information transmitted by Horobtsova “could” have been used to shell the Russian military.
Horobtsova could not have spied for Ukraine at least in 2023, as she has been in Russian captivity since 13 May 2022.
She was sent to a detention centre in Kherson and accused of opposing Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Babych, the mayor of Hola Prystan, saw Horobtsova in the Kherson detention centre. Around May 25, 2022, the woman ended up in a detention centre in Simferopol, Crimea.
Horobtsova worked in IT but became an activist after the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion. Most dedicated a piece to Iryna Horobtsova on the second anniversary of her captivity.
