A suspect in the murder of Russell Bentley, a militant of the Donetsk “republic” and war blogger from the US, has been released from custody, Realna Gazeta reported referencing the ASTRA Telegram channel.

Liudmila Bentley, the widow of the American, complained to the WarGonzo project about the release of the murder suspect. “He allegedly did not personally use violence against Russell, but the next day, he did everything he could to make sure as little as possible remained from Russell,” the woman said.

According to her, it can be assumed that the suspect did not personally kill the American but tried to get rid of Russell Bentley’s car and body, which has not yet been found. Allegedly, the soldier was released on bail.

There are four defendants in the case of the murder of the American war blogger. In June, the relatives of two of them recorded a video message to Putin. They complained about the investigation being biased.

As Realna Gazeta reported previously, Russell Bonner Bentley, a former pro-Russian militant and propagandist from the United States, disappeared in occupied Donetsk on April 8. From 2014, the man was fighting on the side of Russian forces. He married a Donetsk resident and got Russian citizenship.

Bentley’s wife believes that her husband was abducted and tortured to death by soldiers from the 5th Brigade named after Alexander Zakharchenko.
