The Russian occupiers have started to repair a section of the Mariupol-Urzuf motorway. The length of the section being repaired is 5.6 km, 0629 reported.

According to the “minister of transport” of the Donetsk “republic” Vladimir Tuzhilin, work is underway to mill the old roadbed. After that, a two-layer asphalt concrete pavement will be laid, the roadside strengthened, the easement area cleared and markings applied.

According to Tuzhilin, the residents asked for the road. However, it is known that this section of the road provides access to the highway to the Zaporizhzhia region and Crimea. The Russians need a land road to Crimea to ensure uninterrupted supplies of weapons and military equipment to the frontline.

As previously reported, the new road to Crimea, according to the Russians, will be called “Novorossiya” and, if completed, will connect with the four-lane “Tavrida” and, in parts of Krasnodar Krai, with the M4 highway, forming the so-called Azov Ring.

This is a 1,400 km road through Rostov-on-Don, Melitopol, Mariupol, Genichesk, Skadovsk, Dzhankoy, Simferopol, Kerch, and Krasnodar Krai, which unites several main roads into one land corridor around the Azov Sea.
